pressuring obs flame spike works because we don't have paragons. The bulk of the ladder runs them though, and that's where you face difficulty effectively pressuring a team, which honestly makes spike the strongest option at the moment, unless you like playing to vod. The other option is splitting, but that means every match lasts 25 minutes, which is kinda counterproductive due to the ladder system.

It used to be the case that pure spike was strong in metas which required heavy defence/alot of monking skills, as spike is largely designed around taking monks out of the equation by damaging faster than they can heal, so the more healing in an opponents build, the stronger a good clean spike is. Spike has always been weak in disruption heavy metas

Paras seem to have changed that though, with chained incoming and stuff like angelic bond or whatever its called making it difficult to get a clean spike through against a team that knows their stuff. The current three monk FOTM with LOD "runners" should in theory be spike heaven, as it is pure anti-pressure, but paragons imo make spike redundant to a large degree, at least the kind of spike that can be taken out by incoming or aggressive splitting as both are all over the place, often in the same build.

People that run 'Eurospike' without the ability or experience to pressure are the ones that lose. It is essentially a dual surge/dual melee build and if you can't pressure with that, then you have problems. It is mostly just a fringe benefit that the build also has a strong spike ability.

The bad guilds that run it rely entirely on the Shame or Gale to brute force spikes through, but with Hex Breaker and "Brace Yourself" becoming an even more common combination they may soon find that is less effective.

Well Euro spike is dying mainly due to people running Incoming and Hex Breaker, however a good spike shoulnt need to Shame a monk unless ofc they are an infuser. But i suppose that most spikes are dying with Incoming being heavily used but.. the basic Eurospike still works purely because the spike wasnt really there only to kill it is a pressure build with the ability to spike often and even if they dont kill this adds pressure. I hate those guilds that run it purely where you would usually have an Ele using Orb they have a gale and the one/two mesmers Shame the other monk this isnt really a spike thats just "spam your skills on this guy hile we shut them down for a few secs

Wow, idk when you play but all our matches our against Eurospike or the sometimes we get a blood spike or a hex build. Its about a 5/1-euro/other

Since the time that incoming stays up compared to the down time, its not that big of a deal to get around. If they have hex breaker you have other options to shut him down (gale). Eurospike is gona be around for a while, and lots of people will run it. No matter what the monks run.

There is nothing that should really be done about it though, as pugs and newly formed groups and part of the game. It's not just your guild that gets unlucky and stuck with a good pug with a low rating, most other teams are losing massive rating to it too. Also, many teams beat way higher ranked teams because the other team err7'ed, and it's not fair that they win +25 because of that either, while only losing -5 if their team err7'ed.
